I finished Devil Survivor!

But man, why do SMT games always make me feel bad for the choice I made? DeSu was fixing everything I disliked in mainline SMT, and right when it seemed what I did was correct and everyone was gonna be happy, it hit me with the epilogue.
Why is everyone so serious? Why does the game make me feel like I’m a tyrant?. The choices in these games are always so extreme….😭

Everything feels bittersweet, especially now that Naoya.. died? In this timeline. Like I wrote some days ago, before the whole Abel thing was revealed, I suspected Naoya had lived thru this before (and that’s why I left him for the last, since I thought his would be the most complete/truer route). I was half-right, my guess was timeloops, nothing prepared me for the knowledge of him being Cain reincarnated over and over lol.
Tbh he wasn’t a bad guy and I’m glad the game thinks so as well, even if he is supposed to be the “antagonist” of this route.

That aside, I reiterate what I said in previous posts. DeSu has been SO FUN and this is coming from someone who hates SRPGs, I did backflips at every plot twist and characters are great, I don’t think there is a single one I hate. It was a wild ride from start to finish and I’m so so glad Twitter ppl made me give it a second chance (I started it in 2022, but left it the second I saw it was a SRPG).

Despite the bitter taste at the end & with just one route played, I give this game a solid 8.5/10. I can't wait to play the other routes, I'm so curious about them 👏👏
I also read the 3DS port has voice acting & I would like to listen it... But I want all the characters on my start screen, so I'm not gonna switch lol

Yesterday I found out the 8th day in Overclock was an epiloge rather than a week extension like I originally thought, so I watched it on YT this morning.

While the route doesn’t give a perfect solution (extremes are never good), it did give me some ease to know the characters are fine and doing their best, they all looked so down in the final art I thought I fucked up ;o;

Maybe it’s because ENG is my second language, so it doesn’t have as much as emotional impact on me, but I found the final words (before the 8th day) softer than the DS version one, though I think they’re the same lol

I’m glad to see Naoya again! I don’t know if I simply missed the “He ran away…” line or if it was added in the port, but I was worried he died on this timeline. I’m happy I was wrong. I can’t wait to do his route, I keep screenshotting all his interaction with MC sdkjfhs

The only bad thing about this 8th day is that it kinda destroyed an angsty MC/Naoya scenario I had in my head lol But I might talk about it someday anyways to remove it from my brain. And Naoya looking after MC silently is kinda cute tbh tho
